Justice: What is to do the right thing? Episode 01, "the moral aspect of murder"
PART ONE: the moral side of Murder if you killed the choice between (a) a person for the lives of five others, and save it (there were two) at all, even though you know that five people would die right before your eyes, if ever, what would you do? What he should do the right thing? That scenario is hypothetical, Professor Michael Sandel uses to begin his course of moral reasoning. After the majority of students vote for the murder of a person to save the lives of five others,Sandel has three similar moral puzzle each designed to art that complicate the decision. As one student stood to defend their decisions in conflict, it is clear that the assumptions underlying our moral thinking are often contradictory and the question of what is right and wrong is not always black and white. PART TWO: reasons for cannibalism Sandel presents the principles of the utilitarian philosopher Jeremy Bentham, a famous nineteenth-century legal casewith one of the four survivors. After nineteen days lost at sea, killing the captain of the weakest among them, decided by the young cabin boy, and others can survive feeding on his body and blood. The case is a class debate on the moral validity of utilitarianism and his doctrine that the right thing to do, which produces "the greatest happiness of the greatest number."
